Local governance prioritizes the local issues. Local democracy reflects the local constituency. Democracy thrives when government is not run by an echo chamber. For these reasons, we — Independents, Republicans, Democrats, and others — have come together in support of Bedford United.
Bedford United was established to give a voice to those more focused on local matters than national political partisanship. Being Bedford United does not mean you need to renounce other affiliations, as demonstrated by many Democrats and Republicans who support our bipartisan / nonpartisan mission.
Bedford United acts as a vehicle to bridge together our town's community members rather than splitting into political tribes. These tribal tendencies portray one party as all things virtuous versus all things evil. We know this is simply not true. We understand that diversity of perspective is how a thriving democracy achieves optimal solutions.
We are your neighbors. We are moms, dads, grandparents, veterans, volunteers, civil servants, first responders, patriots, environmentalists, feminists, workers, employers, minorities, and children of American immigrants. We are not tied to a party line that we tow with cult-like zeal. In fact, many of us feel politically homeless. Yet we are not deterred by those who perpetuate political polarization. We choose optimism over division.
Our mission is to help all neighbors know they have a place and say in local civic life by overcoming political tensions and seemingly complex bureaucracy. We are people over politics. We humbly ask for you to help in this local mission!

Bedford is for everyone, so we need everyone — from all perspectives and parties — to bring balance and local input to town governance.
